Have you ever walked into a room or a building and immediately felt strongly some way or another?
Like you’ve just received a hug, or can breathe deeply all of a sudden, or that you just want to sit down and move in? Or, quite the opposite, have you ever felt like a heavy weight just descended upon you, or felt immediately tired, down, or worst of all- wanted to turn and run?
If so, you’ve experienced your own aura giving you important information about the environment or people around you. Your aura really is like a sense organ, like your nose, mouth or ears. It is sometimes known as your energetic or etheric body. It surrounds you all the time, can expand outward or contract into your physical body, and like your body can experience damage, holes, become tired and weary, and not operate to its fullest potential. And, like your body can be treated by a doctor, or physical therapist, or by you depending on what’s going on, an energetic bodyworker can clear and repair any auric challenges in a session.
You can even learn how to take care of your own aura on a daily basis in a simple way- I call this energetic hygiene, which I practice daily, and has been a game changer for me in navigating my work, relationships, and my experience of the world- especially when life gets stressful and difficult. Auras for many people are invisible, although some people can see them as a shimmering vibration just off the body, and even with color.
Anyone can develop the ability to see an aura, even you.
So why am I talking about auras and why are they important?
Your aura is the way you first meet the world energetically, in combination with your other senses. It is also a receptacle of sorts.
When you have strong feelings, physical sensations, and move that energy- cry, laugh, exercise, do yoga, have a massage, have bodywork done, have a talk therapy session, participate in a group activity of any kind- a meeting, a concert, go to the grocery store, ride the subway…you get the idea…energy is discharged from your body and mind, and that of others.
All those people you were in a meeting with? Yep. Their energy is affecting you and your aura and chakra system (for more on chakras, see my blog post Your Chakra System: Portals for Energy Flow). It can hang out there, and similar to a room that never gets cleaned, auric “junk” can accumulate and affect the way you feel overall.
In a Polarity session with me, an auric clearing is a part of the protocol and is done at the end of the session, to clear and fortify your energetic system after other bodywork and verbal processing is complete. I use my clearing crystal to do this work while you are still on the table, and may also use sound and vibration to assist.
Auric clearing is great self care, and you can learn to clear your own aura between sessions, and whenever you feel like you want to shift your energy, raise your vibration, let go of an unpleasant interaction, or just start your day with clarity.
Ask me how- you can book time with me to learn the energetic clearing I use on myself. Self care can be so many things, and I truly wish that I had discovered energetic hygiene years ago; it is one of my go-to tools in my self care toolbox.
