My Polarity Therapy Story

I stumbled upon Polarity Therapy rather all by accident and also intentionally.
After many years as a clinical social worker and therapist, working in numerous settings, I was feeling called to work differently with people. I yearned to work in a more embodied way, with the ability to address not just their emotional and mental concerns, but their total being, more holistically than my training to that date allowed. I was finding in my work that for many clients, talk therapy and case coordination could only take them so far in their quests to feel better, evolve, and make real and lasting changes to their mental well being.
I have long been interested in the mind-body connection, having seen the mental and physical benefits personally of meditation, visualization, and breathwork. I also have wanted to develop my intuitive abilities as well and to work with others using them.
Polarity Therapy appealed to me as it was hands on work, and encompassed the whole being, not just “from the neck up” as much of talk therapy is focused on. My education in Polarity Therapy has been comprehensive, inspiring, and frankly very magical!
As part of my training I needed to receive Polarity Therapy sessions from a variety of practitioners. The depth of their intuition and “seeing” abilities of different kinds, knowledge of anatomy, profoundly comforting and respectful touch, counseling abilities, and integration of other modalities was awe inspiring. I would get off the table at the end of the session feeling shifted, balanced, and struck with insights about my life, body, work, and relationships. The more sessions I received, the more Polarity became a part of my daily life.
Through my education I was trained in energetic hygiene, as I like to call it, which has been a revelation for me as a professional helper, and one of the most profound gifts I have received in this work. I have learned to manage my own energy, to be with people and give in my work without feeling drained and exhausted, but more energized and attuned instead. This would have been helpful to receive this skills training 20 years ago when I started my career as a social worker, and one of my future goals is to offer this practice to those working with people, particularly in healthcare and mental health. It would have made a big difference in my ability to remain working in certain roles longer without feeling so burned out, as is so often the fate of professional caregivers.
I am so grateful to have found Polarity, to have it working in my life daily, and to be able to offer it as a powerful modality of personal transformation.
